2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or subscribe through the Website.

Free member accounts can use Google sign-in or an email address and password. Password accounts receive a recovery code when created or recovered; members are responsible for storing it securely. Google sign-in accounts rely on access to the linked Google account. Member accounts do not provide site administration access.

You are responsible for maintaining access to the email account associated with your Storm Guy Media LLC account.

You may not impersonate another person, use an email address that you are not authorized to use, attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account, or interfere with the Website's authentication or security systems.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are used fraudulently, or threaten the security or operation of the Website.

You should always follow official watches, warnings, evacuation orders, road closures, emergency instructions, and other guidance issued by the National Weather Service, local emergency management, law enforcement, fire officials, and other appropriate authorities.

5. Storm Chasing Content

Storm chasing, severe weather observation, wildfire coverage, disaster-area reporting, and similar activities may involve significant risks.

Nothing on the Website should be interpreted as encouraging viewers to enter dangerous weather, wildfire zones, flooded areas, closed roads, disaster areas, or restricted locations.

Do not attempt to duplicate activities shown in Storm Guy Media LLC content unless you have appropriate training, equipment, authorization, situational awareness, and experience.

Unless otherwise stated, the photographs, videos, livestream footage, graphics, logos, branding, written content, forecasts, website design elements, and other original materials published by Storm Guy Media LLC are owned by Storm Guy Media LLC or used with permission.

Content may not be copied, reproduced, redistributed, sold, republished, broadcast, licensed, altered, or commercially exploited without prior authorization from Storm Guy Media LLC, except where permitted by applicable law.

Sharing an official Storm Guy Media LLC webpage or social-media post using the platform's normal sharing tools is permitted.

Use of Storm Guy Media LLC photographs, video footage, or other media by television stations, news organizations, businesses, advertisers, or other commercial entities may require a separate licensing agreement.

7. Trademarks and Branding

Storm Guy Media LLC, The Storm Chasing Guy, associated logos, graphics, names, and branding may not be used in a manner that falsely suggests sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or authorization.

8. Sponsors and Advertising

Storm Guy Media LLC may work with sponsors, advertisers, affiliates, businesses, or other commercial partners.

Sponsored content may include advertisements, logos, product mentions, links, promotional materials, or other sponsored placements.

A sponsor's appearance on the Website or in Storm Guy Media LLC content does not necessarily constitute a guarantee or warranty regarding that sponsor's products or services.

Transactions between you and a third-party business are between you and that business and may be subject to that company's own terms and policies.

The Website may contain links to YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok, weather services, sponsors, advertisers, payment services, social networks, or other third-party websites and services.

Storm Guy Media LLC does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or terms.

Your use of third-party services is subject to the policies and terms of those providers.

10. Website Availability

We work to keep StormGuyMedia.com available and functioning properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

The Website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, hosting issues, severe weather operations, technical failures, internet outages, cybersecurity incidents, or circumstances outside our control.

Features may be added, changed, suspended, or removed at any time.

11. Prohibited Use

You may not use the Website to violate applicable law, attempt unauthorized access, distribute malicious software, disrupt Website operations, scrape or harvest user information without authorization, impersonate another person or organization, circumvent security measures, or otherwise misuse the Website or its services.

Storm Guy Media LLC respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose information when you visit www.stormguymedia.com, create an account, subscribe to updates, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with our Website and services.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Website, we may collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including your email address, name if provided, account information, notification preferences, communications sent to us, and other information you choose to provide.

When you visit the Website, certain technical information may also be collected automatically. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, approximate geographic area derived from your IP address, referring website, pages viewed, date and time of access, and similar diagnostic or analytics information.

We may also use cookies or similar technologies necessary for account authentication, security, Website operation, preferences, and analytics.

2. Account Information

For password accounts we store password and recovery-code hashes. For Google sign-in we store your Google account identifier and verified email address. Google receives information needed to provide its sign-in service when you use the account page. We also store your account creation date, following preference, and a marker recording which updates you have seen. Your email address is not displayed publicly. Follower sign-in does not request access to Gmail messages or YouTube channel management.

If you comment on photos, videos, Archive events, or Community posts, your chosen public name, comment, and posting time are visible to visitors. Comments are associated with your member account. You may delete your own comments; administrators may remove comments. Deleting your membership removes its comments. Share controls copy a link or open your device's sharing options; you choose whether and where to send it.

A secure session cookie keeps you signed in. Recovery codes can reset your password; we do not currently send password reset emails or verify ownership of email addresses. The public follower count counts member accounts that have chosen to follow, not verified individuals.

Member accounts are operated on our DigitalOcean-hosted website. Members can unfollow or delete their account from the account page. Deleted account data may remain temporarily in backups as described below.

3. Email Subscriptions and Notifications

Members can follow Storm Guy Media LLC to see new Community updates in their account when they return to the website. Email and browser push notifications are not currently enabled. Creating an account does not subscribe you to promotional emails.

Depending on your preferences, these communications may include severe weather coverage announcements, livestream notifications, new projects, completed projects, new videos or photographs, Storm Guy Media LLC news, sponsor information, events, promotions, and other updates.

You may unsubscribe from marketing or promotional emails using the unsubscribe link included in those messages or by changing your communication preferences when that feature is available.

Account, authentication, security, and other essential service-related messages may still be sent when necessary to provide the service you requested.

4. How We Use Information

We may use information collected through the Website to operate and maintain StormGuyMedia.com, create and manage user accounts, authenticate users, provide requested email notifications, personalize communication preferences, respond to messages and requests, improve Website performance, understand how visitors use the Website, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain Website security, troubleshoot technical problems, comply with legal obligations, and protect Storm Guy Media LLC and its users.

5. Service Providers

Storm Guy Media LLC may use third-party providers to operate portions of the Website.

These may include website hosting providers, database providers, authentication providers, email-delivery providers, analytics services, cybersecurity providers, content-delivery networks, and other technology providers.

Our Website is currently hosted using DigitalOcean.

The Archive map loads map images from OpenStreetMap or, when enabled, Mapbox. The map provider receives the visitor's IP address and browser request information. Administrator town searches are sent through our server to Photon, operated by komoot, to find matching locations. Locations and coordinates attached to published events are public. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy, Mapbox Privacy Policy, and Photon service information.

Additional providers used for authentication, email delivery, analytics, or other functions will be listed or reflected in this Privacy Policy as those services are implemented.

These providers may process information on our behalf only as necessary to provide their respective services and subject to their own privacy and security practices.

6. How We Share Information

Storm Guy Media LLC does not sell email subscriber lists to third parties.

We may disclose information to service providers that help operate the Website, email system, authentication system, hosting infrastructure, or related services.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, court orders, or lawful government requests; investigate fraud, abuse, or security threats; protect the rights or safety of Storm Guy Media LLC or others; or complete a business reorganization, acquisition, sale, or transfer where permitted by law.

7. Sponsors and Advertisers

Storm Guy Media LLC may display advertisements, sponsorships, affiliate links, or promotional content.

We do not automatically provide sponsors with your email address simply because you view sponsored content.

If a promotion, giveaway, contest, or other activity involves sharing information with a sponsor or partner, additional notice will be provided where appropriate.

Some cookies may be necessary to keep users signed in, maintain security, remember preferences, or operate Website functionality.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information.

However, no internet transmission, email system, hosting provider, database, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account used to access your Storm Guy Media LLC account.

Live notification preferences

If you enable live alerts, we store your browser's push subscription and encryption keys with your member account to deliver livestream notifications through your browser's push service. You can turn alerts off for this device or all devices in your account. Unfollowing or deleting your account removes these subscriptions.

11. Your Privacy Choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we maintain about you, subject to applicable law.

You may also request to unsubscribe from marketing communications or change your notification preferences.

Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to Storm Guy Media LLC, you may have additional rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, or certain uses of your personal information.

13. Children's Privacy

StormGuyMedia.com is intended for a general audience and is not directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through user accounts or email subscriptions without legally required parental authorization.

Users under 13 should not create an account or submit personal information through the Website.

If we learn that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring its deletion, we will take reasonable steps to remove that information.

Those companies have their own privacy practices. Storm Guy Media LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites or services that we do not operate.
